42CrMo4 steel is a Chromium-Molybdenum through-hardening steel of medium hardenability. It is a general purpose high-tensile steel with medium strength level and good impact properties. Similar to C45 steel grade and 41Cr4 steel grade, they are all medium carbon steel.
The difference between c45 steel material and 42CrMo4 steel material: 42CrMo4 steel has alloy element, it is kind of alloy steel bar. After heat treatment, 42CrMo4 steel material can get between mechanical properties.
41Cr4 vs 42CrMo4: 42CrMo4 steel grade has better hardenability than 41Cr4 steel material. After quenching and tempering, 42CrMo4 can be whole pre hardened from core to side.
